Director of Sales
Shaun Richmond has spent much of his career in senior sales roles managing both North American and International business within the natural food and beverage industry. His expertise in fostering strong relationships, and providing unique and valued solutions allows him to pioneer new markets and lead organizational sales efforts with impressive growth results. His extensive experience with launching new brands with insight into evolving markets has produced many successful partnerships.
Shaun earned his Degree in Business at the University of British Columbia and then furthered his studies at Hogeschool Zeeland in the Netherlands to receive a Degree in International Business.
EVP of Technology and Business Development
Since 2006, Kevin Li has been the Vice President of Technology and Chief Engineer for GLG. He holds six patents to his name, including two for stevia refining processes, one for stevia extracIon processes, one for Reb-C purificaIon processes, and two for stevia formulaIon applicaIons. He is an expert in areas related to stevia R&D, quality assurance and control, product design, and processing development. He has recently added a second role as AN0C Stevia SoluIons™ VP of Technology. AN0C Stevia SoluIons is a subsidiary of AN0C, a joint venture consumer products business with GLG.
Kevin received his degree in Chemistry from East China Normal University in 1987. He later travelled to Canada, where he conInued his studies as a visiIng scholar in the Department of Pharmacology at the Medical University of Manitoba. He has more than 20 years of internaIonal work experience in the chemical and pharmaceuIcal industries, including extensive work as a chemical engineer in research and process development.
President and Chief Financial Officer
Brian Meadows obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1987 and International MBA from the University of Glasgow in 1995. He has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years in both North America and Europe, including positions with TELUS and EnerTel.
In addition, he has held senior financial and business development roles in several start-up companies
in Europe as well as worked with large public companies in Canada in both financial and operational roles. Mr. Meadows holds both the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, as well as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. His expertise in finance and operations has helped GLG effectively position itself for continual growth and profitability.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Luke Zhang is a recognized individual in the business, medical and academic communities in both North America and Asia. He has successfully built and managed a number of firms in the health and food industries, and medical and software development industries.
He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Vanderbilt University in the United Sates, a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Shanghai First Medical University in China, and a
Bachelor of Medicine from Shandong Medical University in China. His expertise in the medical field has helped fuel company growth, as well as set foundational principles in research and innovation. In addition, his vision and strategic direction have enabled the Company to maintain a leading edge in the global community.
Investor Rela-ons
Stuart Wooldridge has 25 years of experience in marketing, investor communications, and international finance. He has held senior roles in the publicly-listed resource and consumer products sectors with worldwide operations and provided due diligence services for institutional investors. His operational and financial experience with companies that have significant Chinese investments, coupled with a deep knowledge of financial markets, enables him to be proactive in providing information flow to company stakeholders.
Early in his career, he held senior marketing and business development posiyions with Exxon and PetroCanada. Stuart has a B.Comm degree (Finance) and an MBA, both from the University of British Columbia.
Controller
Kevin Cheung has extensive experience in international companies on planning and analysis of financial reporting, corporate accounting, tax and corporate communications efforts, from public practice and industry setings.
He has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia.
He also articled with Ernst & Young and obtained his designation as a Chartered Accountant. He is currently an active member with the Institute of Chartered Accounts of British Columbia.
Assistant Controller
Stark Chao received his bachelor degree from the University of British Columbia with a major in Accounting. He began his professional career working in public practice with a focus on mid-sized organizations. His experience in public reporting requires a strong focus on accuracy and reliability of financial information, an asset he brings to GLG.
He is a Certified General Accountant and is an active member of the Certified General Accountants of British Columbia and Canada.
Office Manager
Linda Zhang graduated from Shandong Education College with a major in Mathematics and later acquired her Accoun6ng Diploma in Vancouver. She has over a decade’s worth of experience in the International Stevia business.
Since the establishment of GLG Life Tech Corporation in 2004, Linda’s contribution as Office Manager extends into the role of Business Coordinator for corporate activities between the China and Canada teams.
Vice President of Agriculture, Chief Agricultural Scientist, China Operations
Qibin Wang is Vice President of Agriculture and Chief Agricultural Scientist for GLG China Operations. He oversees the company’s stevia and seedling research, and works to continually improve the Company’s proprietary strains for higher yields. He has taught at all levels of education and has held various administrative positions in Chinese universities, including President of Bengbu Cadre College and Chairman of the Anhui School of Agriculture.
He began cultivating stevia in 1984 and established a stevia growing base with Tianjin Nankai University in 1989.
In 2001, he applied for the stevia “Runde 1” hybrid patent and in 2006, he applied for the “Huinong 1” stevia hybrid patent. He continues to build his research in the field of high quality stevia plant strains and ensures GLG continues to improve the quality of its proprietary stevia leaf.
Chief Financial Officer, China Operations
Jiwei Dong is the Chief Financial Officer for GLG China Operations. He earned his post-secondary education and accounting certifications in China, and has more than 20 years of financial and administrative management experience. He joined GLG in 1999 and has worked as Chief Accountant, Manager of Finance, and Vice General Manager.
He currently oversees the financial affairs for each of the Company’s subsidiaries in China, and works to improve the company’s ability to minimize risk and maximize the development of its operations in China in order to contribute to the healthy and long term growth of GLG.
VP of Administration
Dr. H. Wimalaratane is responsible for business development, daily production, and administrative operations in China. He holds a Ph.D. in International Finance and MBA from Beijing University in China. He is fluent in Mandarin, English and Sinhalese, and has published multiple papers and abstracts in various international journals.
A native of Sri Lanka, he has lived, studied and worked in China for almost 20 years. Previously, he worked as the Financial Controller for INSTEC Group Limited and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting and financial maQers for the group. He joined GLG in 2000 and has worked extensively in the development and establishment of each of the company’s subsidiaries, working in the areas of marketing, government relations, management, and administration.
VP of Hongkong Dr. Zhang AN0C Stevia Solutions Co., Limited
Rosa Yuan, Vice President of Honkong Dr. Zhang AN0C Stevia SoluDons Co., Limited, graduated from Macao East Asia University with a degree in Management Economics. She is an experienced business manager and has worked in both Hong Kong and mainland China. Previously, she was the President of Hong Kong Huizhong Company, Ltd. before joining GLG in 2003.
With significant experience in financial management, administraDon and business operaDons, she oversees the internal policies of the Company including cost control and improvement, enabling management to make fiscally sound financial decisions for the long term growth and health of the Company.
VP of Primary Processing
JKunzhong Pang is a graduate of Qingdao University and has extensive experience in mechanical engineering, design and manufacturing. Prior to joining GLG, he worked for Qingdao Hengyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. where he held posiFons as Equipment Manager, Deputy Director of Technology and eventually, Plant Director.
IniFally joining GLG as Manager of Technology, he was appointed to General Manager of the Company's Runhai Facility in China, which began operaFons in early 2009. The Runhai facility is responsible for leaf processing and primary extracFon.
VP of Secondary Processing
With over 30 years of experience in human resources and management, Yunru Zhang serves as the Vice President of Secondary Processing for China OperaBons. She holds degrees from the Shandong InsBtute of Economics, as well as the Shandong InsBtute of Finance, and is a licensed CPA. She has parBcipated heavily and has been an advocate for wage reform in China. Previously, she worked at the Meteorological Bureau in Heze City, Shandong Province, China, where she served as the Director of Human Resources.
VP of Business Development
Xia Zhengyi is a graduate of Qingdao Tech University with a degree in Chemistry. Prior to joining GLG in 2007, he worked extensively in chemical design and research, and was responsible for producIon management and technology development at Hengyuan Chemical Group.
As Vice President of the GLG China OperaIon’s Business Development, he has contributed heavily in the design of the facility's producIon processes and operaIonal flow, including insItuIng advances in solvent recovery, extract enrichment, and equipment uIlizaIon and design.
Division Head of Import/Export
Fred Fan is a graduate of Heze Teacher’s University in China with a degree in Communications. He is responsible for the company’s Importing and Exporting Division in China, and oversees transaction negotiations and planning, product sampling, shipping, and logistics. Previously, he was the Foreign Trade Manager for Heze Grand Leaf Biotechnology Company before joining GLG.
Division Head of Legal
Shugao Yang graduated from the Shandong Institute of Political Science and Law in 1983 and further received a bachelor’s degree in Economic Management from Qingdao University in 2006. He has over 30 years of experience and serves as legal counsel for GLG China Operations.
Division Head of Purchasing
Head of Purchasing for GLG China Operations, Daining Zhang holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Beijing Military and Civilian Institute. Joining GLG in 2004, he has worked in various capacities, including domestic product sales. His experience in business management has brought significant improvements and cost savings to the division.
Division Head of Construction
Xiangtai Duan holds a degree in Infrastructure and Project Management from Qingdao Construction Project College and has over 20 years of experience in construction management. He has previously worked for Jiaozhou Jiaocheng Construction Company, Ltd., where his construction of a bridge and power station won him the coveted Luban Award for Architecture, Construction and Engineering in China. His responsibilities include the supervision of the Company’s extensive capital expansion and construction program in China.
Division Head of Quality Control
Lei Zhang holds a degree in Applied Chemistry and Biology from Yantai University in China. He previously worked for Shandong Jingpeng Bio-‐ PharmaceuFcal Company in the detecFon and analysis of pesFcides. In addiFon, he has worked for Shandong Fuxin Rubber and PlasFc Company as the quality control supervisor, overseeing raw materials, process control, and finished products.
